How Old Is Your Church?

How Old Is Your Church?

"Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath." James 1:19

If you are a Roman Catholic, you know that  your religion was founded after the Council of Nicea in the year of 325 A.D., when the split came between Eastern and Western Rome.  This Council had a view of harmonizing the different controversies between the Arians and the Ayhanasians.  Arianism was denounced and the formulae of the Roman Catholic faith was adopted as we have it today.

If you are a Lutheran, your religion was founded by Martin Luther, an ex-monk, of the Catholic Church in the year of 1517.

If you are a Mennonite, your Church has it's beginning with Priest Menno Simons, a German who broke with the Church of Rome in 1530 and articulated the Mennonite creed and doctrine.

If you belong to the Church of England, your religion was founded by the King of England in the year of 1534.

If you are a Presbyterian, your religion was founded by John Knox in Scotland in the year 1560.

If you are a Congregationalist, your religion was organized by Robert Brown in Holland in 1582.

If you are a Protestant Episcopalian, your religion was an offshoot of the Church of England founded by Samuel Seabury in the American colonies in the 17th century.

If you are a Baptist, you owe the tenets of your religion to John Smyth, who launched it in Amsterdam in 1606.

If you are of the Dutch Reformed Church, you recognize Michaelis Jones as the founder, because he organized it in New York in 1628.

If you are a Methodist, your religion was launched by John and Charles Wesley, in England. 1744.

If you belong to the Apostolic Christian Church, your founder was S. H. Droeklich, a Swiss who came to America about 1850 and organized this group.

If you are a Mormon, the Church of the Latter Day Saints, your roots began with Joseph Smith, Jr. who started your sect in 1830, in Palmyra, New York.

If you are a Seventh Day Adventist, your church was born through the efforts of William Miller and Mr. and Mrs. James White who left the Church of God 7th Day and in 1844 to form the church.  Mrs. White was later confirmed to be their "Spirit of Prophecy" and main organizer.

If you worship with the Salvation Army, your sect began with William Booth in London in 1865.

If you are a Christian Scientist, you look to 1879 as the year in which your religion was born, and to Mrs. Baker Eddy as it's founder.

If you belong to one of the religious organizations know as "Church of Nazarene," "Pentecostal Gospel," "Jehovah's Witness," your religion is of the hundreds of new sects founded by men in the last one hundred years.

If you noticed in your Bible, there was only one Church purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ our Savior.  There was only on Church of which Jesus is the head.  There was one Church to which the Apostles added Saints daily.  There is only one Lord, one faith, one baptism and only one Church which was founded and built upon the Apostles and Prophets with Jesus as the chief CORNERSTONE.  (Eph. 2:19-20)  Christ cannot be divided.  Acts 20:28 says,  "THE CHURCH OF GOD which HE purchased with His own blood."

Jesus was on this earth from 4 B.C. to 31 A.D.  None of the above-named have their beginnings at this, or even near this time.  Yet, the Savior did purchase a Church Acts 20:28, says that He did purchase one with His own blood.  Now if you wish to find out what the real name of the Church which was purchase with his blood is; read - 1 Cor. 10:32; 1 Tim. 3:5, 15; Acts 20:28; Gal. 1:13; 1 Cor. 1:2, 15:9; 2 Cor. 1:1.  We know that these few texts are sufficient to prove to you satisfaction which is the first and original Church.  I belong to it.  Why not you?
